This week I have mostly been knitting dishcloths!

Sad isn't it, but I don't seem to be able to cope with anything more major. This one is from the Monthly Discloth KAL and I believe it's called the Meadow. The pattern was published a few rows at a time starting on Tuesday, being the 1st of the month, on their Yahoo Group. I faithfully did the work each day, and voila, one dishcloth.

The next one is the good old ballband a.k.a. Mason Dixon dishcloth, great fun and I can see me doing a few of these. The edges are a bit raggy, and I was half way through doing a crochet edging when sanity struck. This is a dishcloth for goodness sake, and I intend to use it! I got some more Peaches & Creme from America, direct from Elmore Pisgah, the manufacturer. The service was fast, and although the postage seemed a bit steep, it was only 75p over the actual posting cost, so I'm not going to complain too much. One more thing strikes me, I must be yearning for spring; look at the colours I used:

The Ribby Cardi is half sewn up. If I do just a little bit at a time it doesn't seem such a torture. I don't mind the finishing process, it's just that being a perfectionist sometimes I end up ripping out seams and redoing them, so the whole thing becomes a bit of a mammoth undertaking. I've also started another baby jumper for my friend's little boy Edward, who was a recipient last year. The jumper is from Knit Today, and here's the picture from the magazine:

I'm using the suggested yarn, Wendy Mode DK, and it's not that brilliant to work with, but at least it's 50% wool and machine washable. I mourn for Jaeger Baby Merino, that was fab. If anyone knows of a good 100% wool superwash DK weight baby wool, I'm listening. I'm also not enamoured of the jumper because I started it in Scotland, did about 4" and then ended up starting again on smaller needles because it was going to be 3" too big. No, I didn't swatch. It was only a baby jumper and you don't need to for something that small, do you? Answer, yes you do. Mk 2 is still going to be a little out, but only by about ½-1" and I can live with that. I'm not dropping down to knitting a DK project on 3.25 or 3.5mm needles!

Also on the knitting-related front, I've been incredibly lucky. I won Wendy's 6th blogiversary drawing. I suppose that just confirms me as a certified Wendy stalker, as she was asking questions going back into the history of her blog. There are far worse people, however, to stalk in my book, her blog being one of my top favourites with some great technical information and some beautifully executed (and fast) knitting. It's great to see her knitting fair isle again, and Alice Starmore too, but in a beautiful yarn I also fell in love withover at Dawn's blog - another of my regular reads, and another very productive knitter. Anyway, I'm off at a tangent. I won a $50, yes, $50 gift certificate to the Loopy Ewe! Shopping here we come. Those of you with good memories might remember) it's the second time I've won something from Wendy, so I'd better sit on my hands and not enter one of her contests again!

Nothing wrong with knitting dishcloths, sometimes small projects are just the thing :)

I'm with you on the finishing, involves a lot of tooing and froing...
